Youth Commitment Charter Principles

Person Centred Practice
Service delivery should meet the needs, abilities and aspirations of individual young people.


Inclusiveness and diversity
All parties should maintain awareness of the diversity of the youth sector and take into account the issues of gender, disability, race, cultural diversity and rural isolation among others.

Participation
All parties agree to participate fairly and openly in collaborative and consultative manner.


Build trust and communication
All parties agree to act honestly and with respect, with a view to strengthening trust and long term partnerships and seek to develop interactions based on mutual commitment.


Effective information and data provision
Information and data should be shared with other parties where appropriate for the purpose of planning and development.


Holistic & Flexible Service Delivery
An holistic approach including curriculum, health & well being is adopted by all parties in supporting the participation of young people and where required an organisation will identify / seek other services that are / could be beneficial to a young person and work in a collaborative, coordinated approach to ensure the most positive outcomes for the young person.


Duty of Care / Privacy & Confidentiality
All parties will ensure a high level of ‘duty of care’ for each young person involved with their school / organisation, including comprehensive and appropriate referral / transition services. The confidentiality and interests of young people will be protected at all times and the rights of young people to privacy of their information will be respected.


Commitment to feedback and continuous improvement
Programs, services and strategies are to be continually monitored, reviewed and developed to best meet the needs of individual young people.
