Independent Youth Allowance – May 2009 

The Glenelg & Southern Grampians LLEN is looking into the issue of the recent changes to the eligibility of the Independent Youth Allowance. We are doing this in a number of ways and encourage affected or concerned people to contact us. 

• The LLEN are collecting names and details of interested people who are concerned about the issue and are looking for information as to how this might affect them and who they might contact to lobby for amendments to the policy
   
• The LLEN are collating a range of people’s personal stories and opinions on how the changes will impact them and use these to stories to highlight issues to the government
   
• The LLEN are proposing a meeting of concerned parents, students and community members to clarify the current situation and prepare strategies for immediate responses to the federal government
   
• The LLEN are posting on our website the current changes and our proposed actions as above and will update this as new information comes to hand
